I want to dedicate this post to my dear, sweet friend, Jenny who stepped over into Glory this morning and is praising Jesus with the angels!  I loved her smile and admired her strong courage in her battle against cancer.  She had beat it too…then suffered a debilitating stroke last week from which she never recovered.  Please pray for the Holy Spirit of God to comfort her husband and five girls she leaves behind.  May they experience the peace that only He can give!

Do you believe in angels?

It was about 2:00 A. M. and I couldn’t sleep, so I turned on the TV.  It happened to be a well known Christian TV network and there sat a young woman singing.  She had a beautiful voice and a beautiful personality as well.

I listened.  When she finished her song, she began to talk about an experience she had with her son when he was only 3 years old.  She related how he began to have bad dreams, which eventually turned into night terrors.  Her pain was self evident how hard it was for her to see her precious little boy suffering such fear and torment from these horrible nightmares, night after night.

She began to teach him Bible verses, hoping this would alleviate the fear he was experiencing due to the night terrors.  She would also pray with him before he went to sleep.  One night after praying with her 3 year old, she remembered a little song her mother had taught her when she was a girl.  She said the song had always brought her much comfort as a child, so she decided to teach it to him.

The simple, little song was about angels.  I can’t remember all the words, but here are some of the lyrics I did remember:

Angels are in front of me, up above me, behind me, they’re all around me…

She went on to share that after she taught her son this song, he began to sing it all the time.  While playing, before bed, in the morning…he had a song…a song that reminded him he’s never alone!  Angels were surrounding him.  The night terrors left him and never returned.

As I listened, it gave me chills, not from fear, but from a place of peace, from the heavenly realm…comforting peace and tranquility resulting from the knowledge, that yes, there are angels all around us!

As adults, we too, can be afraid.  After all, in today’s world there are many things happening to cause us to fear.  As a result, many are now suffering anxiety, panic attacks, depression, suicidal thoughts, addictions, eating disorders, etc.   It’s a scary world out there, but we can experience peace in the midst of the storm!

How?  Through the comfort of God’s Word!  Read this:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Did you notice the word “anxious” in the verse?  Who isn’t anxious now?  But if we keep our mind stayed on the One who gives us peace, it can be different!

Now, I ask you, “Do you believe in angels?”

One reason you should, is because they are real!  They are heavenly messengers sent to minister to and for us.  The Bible says so and I believe the Bible.

“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.”  Psalm 91:11-12 KJV

“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Hebrew 1:14 KJV

Read it now in the Amplified Bible (it’s louder, just kidding!)

“Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service (of God for the assistance) of those who are to inherit salvation?”  Hebrews 1:14 AMP

I ask again, “Do you believe in angels?”

Thanking God for His ministering angels!
