If you are a living, breathing human being you will have trouble.

Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.  Job 14:1 KJV

Trouble will come to everyone in this life, but what you do when you are in trouble greatly determines your outcome.

I want to encourage you by sharing this thought…you can rise above your trouble and also share with you how to rise above it!

Joseph’s life was full of trouble, but he always rose above it.  He went from the pit, to the prison, to the palace.  No matter what the situation or circumstances Joseph found himself in, he would always rise above it and so can you.

There are requirements that have to be met to rise above our circumstances too, but just remember…there is nothing, or no thing that can hold you down!  You can rise!

Here are the key points to rising above your trouble:

Realize God is for you.  Joseph wore the coat of many colors his father made for him.  The coat represented the mark of favor on him.  His brothers were jealous of him because they knew their father favored Joseph.  They could see the coat and Joseph wore it with pride.  He also bragged about his ability to interpret dreams.  They hated him and called him “the dreamer”.   They hated him so much they plotted to kill him.

If you are born again, meaning you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you too have the mark of favor on you.  The devil knows it and because of it, he hates you.  He wants to kill you.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:  I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  John 10:10 KJV

The devil knows you have favor with God, even though you might not realize this fact.  It’s important to understand that God is for you, not against you.  If you realize God is for you, you will have confidence in God and His ability to bring you out of any situation, just as He did for Joseph.

Put your confidence in God.  You can be assured that whenever trouble comes your way, God will be with you through it and will bring you out.  Whenever trouble came Joseph’s way God would not let him stay in the trouble.  He would always bring him out.  He brought him out of the pit and He brought him out of the prison.  That’s exactly what God will do for you too.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous:  but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. Psalms 34:19 KJV

You are not promised the day of trouble will not come, but you are promised God will deliver you from it.

Keep your integrity.   Joseph glorified God by using his gift while in prison.  The butler and the baker of the king of Egypt were both in prison with Joseph.  Each of them had a dream and were sad because no one could interpret it.  Joseph interpreted both of their dreams and the interpretation of their dreams came to pass exactly as he told them.  The butler was restored as butler to Pharaoh, but forgot to mention Joseph as Joseph had requested he do.  The baker was hanged.

After two full years, Pharaoh dreamed a dream and no one could interpret it.  When no one could interpret Pharaoh’s dream, the chief butler remembered Joseph.  Joseph was brought out of prison and told Pharaoh what his dream meant.  He was promoted from prison to the palace in a day’s time.

Joseph was in prison because he refused the sexual advances of Potiphar’s wife.  Potiphar was an officer of Pharaoh, captain of his guard and it was he who had bought Joseph from the Ishmaelites.

When Joseph’s oldest brother convinced the others they could not kill Joseph, they sold him to the Ishmaelites.  Potiphar had bought Joseph from them.

When Joseph refused her advances, she lied to her husband and told him Joseph had tried to rape her.  That is why he was thrown in prison.

Joseph kept his integrity.  He honored Potiphar by refusing to lie with his wife and thus he honored God.  Because Joseph honored God, God honored him and promoted him from the prison to second in command under Pharaoh.

If you will honor God, even in your trouble, God will honor you and cause you to rise above your trouble.

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:  I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.  Psalms 91:15 KJV

Nothing is impossible with God.  We can be victorious with Him.

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment:  because as he is, so are we in this world.  1 John 4:17 KJV

Because Jesus overcame the enemy on the cross, you can overcome too.  Never doubt God will deliver you and you will rise above your trouble.

And call upon me in the day of trouble:  I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.  Psalms 50:15 KJV
