Do you ever feel like you can’t make a difference? Do you feel like your contribution to the kingdom of God is not as much as someone else? Are you trapped by comparing your efforts with others? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the devil is trying to intimidate you and stop your voice! Don’t give in to his fear tactics. You can make a difference!
First, know that God has you exactly where he wants you and He has you there for a specific purpose.
The devil will play mind games with you by getting you to question your calling, or your purpose. You already know what God has placed in your heart! Follow the Holy Spirit’s leading. Keep on doing what you know to do and don’t let the devil’s voice stop you. He will try to intimidate you with fear by telling you….your efforts are not good enough, your not contributing as much as Joyce Meyer’s (and I love Joyce!), no one knows who you are, you don’t have a “big time” ministry like so and so, your not getting paid to minister, no one appreciates you and what you do, your not reaching as many people for the kingdom of God as Joel Osteen, etc., etc., etc.
If you listen to the enemies voice, you will get discouraged. You have to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Keep on reaching people in your little corner of the world! It might be posting encouraging words on your Facebook wall, or taking a cake to a neighbor, volunteering in the church nursery, texting a scripture to someone who’s lonely or depressed, whatever!! Just be obedient and faithful in the “little things” God lays on your heart to do.
You never know when that small act of kindness may mean the difference between life and death in someone’s life. Seriously!
I heard a preacher tell this story that illustrates this truth.
He pastors a large congregation. One Sunday after the morning service he was greeting the people when a young lady was in line to shake his hand. He said he recognized her face and knew he had met her before but could not remember her name, try as he might! He prayed, “Holy Spirit, tell me her name.” As he shook her hand, he said, “Hello, Michelle.” She looked very surprised. He thought, I either got it right or I either got it totally wrong. She said, “I can’t believe you remembered my name!” She had only visited his church a few times before. She related how she was going to commit suicide, but that if he could remember her name she must be important to God. This young lady felt like she didn’t make a difference.
See, how something so simple can make a big difference in someone’s life? The devil doesn’t want you to know that. He wants you to get discouraged and give up because you think you aren’t making a difference, but be assured…you are.
I like this quote:
A man who is intimate with God is not intimidated by man. ~ Leonard Ravenhill
Make sure you are spending time alone in reading and studying the Word of God. Meditate on what God says about you. Pray and seek God’s will for your life. The Holy Spirit will gently lead and direct you to the people who are waiting to hear your voice. Speak God’s Words and blessing into someone’s life today.
Don’t doubt the hand of God in your life!
